Helpful answers to your most common questions for choosing the best shed.

Do I need Council approval?

This varies amongst States and even from Council to Council. As a general rule anything over 20m2 needs planning approval but it’s best to check with your local Council to clarify if any permits are required for your shed.

To qualify for and exemption as a Farm Shed, the shed should have to be a pre-engineered (included) steel building and used for agricultural purposes only.

Each of our products comes with a free 'Drafting Outline' ready to submit to Council should you need to apply for a permit.

What do I need for Council approval?

Our recommendation is to call your local council for the local regulations regarding Farm Sheds and they will be able to advise on the necessary documentation you need to submit for the application process.

You may need to consider various other regulations including size, distances from boundaries and houses. Your local Council is best placed to advise you on these regulations.

How long does Council approval take?

On average, between 4 and 6 weeks. Most Councils now have an online tracking system, so if you have access to the internet you can easily see how your application is progressing.
